Abstract

The 1980’s establishes a turning point in the Colombian armed conflict. This is mainly represented by the organizational boom and mobilization of different social and political sectors, the military-political restructuring of one of the insurgencies with more historical changes in the country, and the institutional and political crises within the state and the ruling class. These led to a demarcation of the course taken by the political and armed confrontation between the Colombian state headed by President Belisario Betancur and the guerrillas of the FARC EP. In order to make an approach to the political conditions that facilitated the ceasefire establishment in 1984 between the FARC-EP and the national government, this research work is aimed to study and to make a critically analysis of the subjective and objective conditions that materialized the ceasefire agreement.
