Resumen
Throughout history, bats have been stigmatized animals, myths and superstitions lacking scientific support that have transcended through generations have affected the welfare of their populations, preventing the local community from recognizing their importance in the environment and developing strategies aimed at the conservation of this group. For this reason, an environmental education strategy is proposed using a pedagogical booklet. This work was directed to students of 9th, 10th and 11th grades belonging to the environmental social service program at the Botanical Garden of Bogota. The methodology contemplated the exploration of previous ideas of the students through the use of a survey, the socialization of the pedagogical booklet whose content addressed different topics, and a knowledge verification survey in order to analyze the new concepts. A positive transformation of their conceptions and the assimilation of information regarding the roles and ecosystem services of these organisms together with the importance of their conservation was evidenced, going from perceiving them as threats to beneficial beings for the environment.
