Resumen
In Latin America and specifically in Colombia, SMEs and MSMEs have several structural challenges such as low levels of innovation, the large number of competitors, lack of investment due to low levels of profitability and lack of technical and economic support by part of the government, this generates negative impacts at the environmental and economic level, which ultimately causes them to disappear, thus increasing the levels of unemployment and economic decline, taking into account that SMEs and MSMEs represent 90% of companies in the country, and they employ 65% of the national labor force (Colombian Association of Financial Technology and Innovation Companies, 2021). In response to this problem, international regulatory bodies such as ICONTEC propose management systems that contribute to the competitiveness and innovation of companies. The most important standards at the business level and mostly implemented that have achieved benefits in multiple organizations are the ISO: 9001, ISO: 14001 and ISO: 45001, which is why in the Colombian market the implementation of these is offered with the commitment to improve the commercial performance and image of corporations. In response to this need, Fundación Pulso provides technical assistance in this process to those SMEs and MSMEs that do not have the resources or the necessary knowledge to carry out this process; Likewise, the Foundation has integrated these standards. The implementation of these standards in Colombian SMEs and MIPYMES generates benefits at an economic, social and environmental level, however, to materialize such benefits, the process contained in each of the standards must be rigorously followed, since although the three standards referred to have similarities in their structure has different objectives and procedures, each one oriented to a specific department in each organization (quality department, occupational health and safety department and environmental management department). Essentially, in this process, it is essential to carry out the PHVA cycle presented in ISO 9001:2015, since this allows monitoring, evaluation, and the performance of improvement actions that adjust management systems, considering that companies are not and should not be static, therefore their systems must be constantly changing and must be flexible to possible changes in the media. In the implementation process, a series of products and by-products are generated referring to each standard and according to the needs and particularities of each company, these are the basis of the management systems which are the input to be used in the audits for the certifications to whatever happens, this is precisely what is expected, the obtaining of certifications by companies that will lead them to improve their business, environmental and financial performance, thereby increasing their competitiveness in the Colombian and international markets, it is also expected create added value in the Colombian industry that contributes to the resolution of current social problems.
