Resumen
The following degree work is the result of an investigation that was developed with third grade students of primary basic education of the Liceo Montessori school of the municipality of Soacha and whose objective is to identify the representations that the students of the pets have as living beings. To account for the representations, during the methodological process a sequence of activities was developed, characterized by four moments of interaction with the students, which after being; validated by experts, applied, systematized in MAXQDA®, allowed to obtain six categories of analysis that were nominated by the researcher and articulated with the theoretical framework. The results show six categories related to the meaning that pets have for children and how this is related to care, referring to the protection and security that gives them interact with their pets, and with it the desponsibility that should have children and families, when they decide to have a pet as a pet.

El presente trabajo de grado es el resultado de una investigación que se desarrolló con estudiantes de tercer grado de educación básica primaria del Colegio Liceo Montessori del municipio de Soacha y cuyo objetivo fue identificar las representaciones que tienen los estudiantes sobre las mascotas. Para dar cuenta de las representaciones, durante el proceso etodológico se desarrolló una secuencia de actividades, caracterizada por cuatro momentos de interacción con los estudiantes, que luego de ser validados por expertos, aplicados y sistematizados en MAXQDA®, permitió obtener seis categorías de análisis que fueron nominadas por el
investigador y articuladas con el marco teórico. Los resultados evidencian seis categorías referidas al significado que tienen las mascotas para los niños y de que manera este, se relaciona con el cuidado, refiriéndose a la protección y seguridad que les da interactuar con sus mascotas, y con ello la responsabilidad que deben tener los niños y las familias, cuando deciden tener una mascota como animal de compañía.
