Resumen
Searching for solutions to the increasing demand for bandwidth in communications networks has raised the possibility of sending RF signals through optical fiber. This type of system is known as converged access network or radio over fiber's systems (RoF); for optimizing these kind of systems, it is necessary to improve the optical reception to efficiently detect both signals (base band and RF). This project is performed througt a theoretical study and the profiling of three optical filtering schemes: Fabry Perot filter, Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBG) and Sagnac interferometer; draw from the transfer function, each filter's behavior is modeled in a optical fiber transmission and reception's system and the results are analyzed taking as reference the BER's levels obtained in each simulation.
