Resumen
The following document contains the poetry collection Nacer con el corazón afuera (To Be Born with the Heart Outside), which is composed, first, of an essay that grounds the poetic creation, titled A Poetic Approach to the Body, Illness, and Medicine. This essay reflects on the relationships between the body, medicine, and illness through the lens of poetry.
Secondly, the document presents the poetry collection itself, which explores in a poetic manner what it means to be human while experiencing medical matter and illness. It delves into the interactions that unfold within these fields, considering that—even if medicine may seem distant to us—at some point, we all must engage with it. This confrontation can lead to discomforts that open space for thematic reflections and, eventually, poetic practices.
Thus, both the poetry collection and the essay work together to reconsider the meaning of being human.
