Resumen
The Institutional Environmental Management Plan - PIGA is an environmental planning instrument developed by the institutions of district order as complementary implementing the Environmental Management Plan PGA of district capital, whose main aim is ensure the environmental quality, the eco-efficiency and social and environmental harmony . The Local Mayor of San Cristobal makes the PIGA, to comply with environmental legal regulations in force and to establish the methodological framework for environmental management that allows the achievement of environmental goals and improving the environmental performance of this entity. Starting from the identification and assessment of environmental impacts, are set in response, the eco-efficiency programs as guiding tools for the rational and efficient use of water and energy resources, the integrated management of solid waste and the implementation of sustainable practices as mechanisms for control, mitigation and prevention of significant environmental impacts, programs that structure the annual plan of action on environmental issues. These programs have performance indicators that allow measurement, follow up and monitoring of environmental performance, allowing to take decisions and tend achievement orientation and the continuous improvement of the environmental management system of the Local Mayor of San Cristobal.
