Abstract

During the last decades of the twentieth and the twenty-first century, city building has been framed within the own policies of neoliberalism, leaving outside the interests and points of view that exist outside the market and the economy. Thus, citizen participation becomes vitally important tool within the scope of the right to the city proposed by academics like Lefebvre and Harvey. This document examines the complexity of the scope of that right through categories like political culture, the neoliberal model city and institutionalizing participation in Bogotá, specifically in the location of Chapinero.
