In the Savannah of Bogotá, the municipality of Cogua has experienced in the last the gradual growth of mining focused on the exploitation of is an economic activity with high environmental degradation, reason for the which the environmental impact assessment is a fundamental tool for the assess the implications of these actions. Within the various affected by the mining intervention, biodiversity is one of the least studied fields, because itrequires more specific research and analysis to enable the identification and conservation of of the different species, especially when the presence of species of fauna endemic areas on the study area demand special attention from the environmental entities. It is for the above that the international treaties in particular on conservation of biodiversity are of great importance, they promote in each country responsibilities and decision-making, in realities of the territory and the dynamics of the ecosystem. This academic work seeks to evaluate the environmental impacts of mining in the municipality of Cogua and to associate the affectation on the biodiversity that is in the territory with the international treaty on biological diversity. For this, the mining process was determined, environmental impacts were identified and These impacts were assessed using the Global Index method, as well as a national and international normative analysis of the legal Colombia for the affectation of the biodiversity present in the study area.
