Resumen
In the present internship project, a demand planning methodology was developed for the top products of the Flux Cored Wire line, a high-performance welding wire marketed by Welding West Arco. For the development of the project were taken as reference academic books related to the topic of planning and administration of the demand and information learned in the course Management of operations of the industrial engineering curriculum project. The methodology begins with the definition and analysis of the problem, where the importance of improvement in the planning and inventory system for the FCW product line was identified; Established the requirements is to perform the collection and analysis of the information to consolidate the data that will serve as input into the deployment and application of forecasting models. Based on established forecasting methodologies, a proposed method for demand planning is defined, a method that was developed in conjunction with the teacher director for the specific problem of the product line. Under the time series scheme the proposed methodology is applied for the built-in forecast methods: Regression methods, moving average, simple exponential smoothing, double exponential smoothing, Winters method and Box & Jenkins. The generated results of the planning are analyzed for each product and an inventory model is developed according to the established requirements, finally a comparison of the current model applied by the company and the proposed method is made, contrasting the performance of each model with the Results generated in the performance measures.
