Geovisor Web para Exploraciones Preliminares Geotécnicas - Geológicas

Abstract

This document present a Geovisor’s development process using web services, through a software engineering process, defined by an incremental model and by reuse of components, during the analysis, design and deploy stages. The viewer’s objective was to be a tool in the forecast of potential areas for geological-geotechnics’ exploration at Chocó’s department, due to its relevance according to the territorial planning over this department. The initial data were open source, in shapefile format, by which new layers were generated through ArcGIS’s models. The obtained result was the reuse of Postgres as an information backup, GeoServer as storage and GeoExplorer as web publisher, within the OpenGeo Suite 4.8 package. The viwer show the areas with minor environmental, social and operating impact, depicted as thematic layers by lithological unit; allowing the specialized final user visualize general information, along with other functionalities, and weight the optimums exploration areas according to his needs. Some restrictions were found, for instance the rendering speed.
