Influencia del relleno sanitario Doña Juana en la salud pública y evaluación de alternativas para el manejo de los residuos sólidos de Bogotá

Abstract

In this document, we sought to establish the main public health problems generated by Doña Juana Landfill, which have escalated over time affecting both the community and the natural resources in the surrounding area in the south of Bogotá. Additionally, alternatives were evaluated to enable proper management of solid waste generated in Bogotá. For the methodology, it was first proposed to conduct a documentary review and also in healthcare centers, identifying all public health issues related to the Doña Juana Landfill. Simultaneously, an instrument was designed for field application, through which information about the health impacts experienced by the community, potentially linked to the presence of the landfill, was collected. Based on the results, it was evident that the main health issues in the Mochuelo Alto area are respiratory, dermatological, visual, and digestive problems. In light of this, alternatives were proposed related to the proper long-term management of solid waste generated in the city of Bogotá, aimed at reducing the impact on the community and the natural resources in the southern part of the city.
