Resumen
This work addresses, on the one hand, the lack of use of nighttime satellite images in Colombia for analysis and / or research and, on the other, the existing barrier in accessing NASA's Black Marble product by users with limited or no programming knowledge. Therefore, the objective is to develop and implement a complement for QGIS that facilitates the processing and analysis of nocturnal satellite images of the Black Marble product, this is carried out within the framework of an XP methodology, by virtue of the search for ease of fast and efficient modifications, as well as the management of the development and progress in the validation of the plugin. The review of the basic guides for the development was carried out in the documentation prepared by NASA where the characteristics are mentioned and the user guide of its product is found, with which it was sought to know the methodology that allows the transformation and deployment of the images In the QGIS software from the HDF5 format to the TIF format, consequently, a tool was implemented that allows the execution of said process easily by the user, and additionally, a multi-temporal analysis is offered through the use cases: population growth and post-disaster recovery, by comparing the increase or decrease of night lights in different periods of time.
