Resumen
The purpose of this research project was to design a protocol for the handling and storage of chemical reagents used in the laboratories of the Bosa El Porvenir branch of the Francisco José de Caldas University, with the result of reducing possible risks, accidents and impacts that could be caused by affecting the integrity of the members of the university community, damage to the facilities and effects on the environment, all of which was done using current regulations for the preparation of the project. The methodology used to carry out this project is: laboratory inventory, auditing of storage areas, identification of risks, preparation of product matrix for reagents, construction of a guide to the protocol for handling and storing chemical reagents. As a first stage of research, an inventory of the laboratories present at the headquarters was made, providing a brief description of their location, work area and activities carried out in each one. Consequently, the inspection of substance storage conditions was carried out, taking into account the characteristics of each laboratory's location and environment. The assessment of risks and hazards present in each laboratory was carried out using the formats and methodology proposed by GTC 45, where it was found that the greatest risks within the laboratories are attributed to activities with chemical reagents and robust equipment. Following this, a product matrix was developed to inventory the reagents present in each laboratory in which items such as reagent name, quantity, container, brand, among others, are evaluated. Finally, and taking into account the results obtained, a guide to the protocol for handling andstoring chemical reagents was prepared. This guide contains a series of guidelines on the handling and storage of chemical substances for the university community, as instructional and safety support material.
