Resumen
The research master's degree work that is narrated here shows the characterization of the development of democratic competence (Skovsmose, 1999) in the mathematics class of the students of course 803 of the Departmental Educational Institution Ricardo Hinestrosa Daza. The proposal was born by identifying that in the usual environment of the mathematics class there are no favorable conditions for the development of democratic competence. It is found in the setting of educational landscapes of learning (Skovsmose, 2012, García, Valero and Camelo, 2013) a tool that allows changes in class culture, recognizing self-care in the use of motorcycles, as a situation social context of the students that conveys the interests of most of them. According to the development of the research it is possible to conclude that the development of democratic competence is an evolutionary process in which mathematical literacy and reflective knowledge take on a relevant role when studying a social situation of the students' environment. This research proposal is based on the theoretical approaches of the critical mathematical education approach (Skovsmose & Valero, 2012, Valero, Andrade and Montecino, 2015), and on the methodological approach of critical research (Skovsmose, 2015).
