Ítem Apoyo al programa de educación ambiental del Jardín Botánico, orientado a grupos de interés de las localidades de Suba, Engativá y UsaquénGómez Raigozo, Iván Dario; Chico Prada, Jaime Andres; Bautista Herrera, Hayder; Santracruz Delgado, SandraThe main goal of the Educational and Cultural Branch (SEC) of the Bogota Botanical Garden "José Celestino Mutis" is to harmonize the relationships between human beings and nature, to achieve this objective, social awareness of the environment and all the relationships that are established are of a primary nature. It is there where the policies and entities are fundamental to direct environmental education projects, which promote the creation and construction of knowledge on the environmental field in which the fundamental pillar is the active participation of the communities, to which new ways of thinking and acting, so as to generate a lifestyle in accordance with the environmental and climatic reality of the planet. Starting from the premise that "what is not known is not cared for", environmental education turns out to be a transcendental tool to face contemporary environmental problems; In contrast, by not training society on environmental issues, the lack of knowledge could trigger new environmental problems. Throughout the development of the internships, support was given to different processes that constitute the environmental education program of the Bogotá Botanical Garden "José Celestino Mutis" and that are aimed at interest groups of all kinds in the towns of Suba, Engativá and Usaquén of the city, in which important topics such as environmental interpretation, urban agriculture, forestry processes were addressed; factors that are incumbent on environmental education and that are essential to forge knowledge that contributes to sustainable development.
