Resumen
In the context of World Radio Day, legendary narrator Pache Andrade reflects on his nearly 50-year career, defining Colombia as a deeply "radio-maniac" (radiómano) country. Regarding the threat posed by digital platforms, Andrade argues that technology will not displace the medium but will instead serve as a strategic complement. He highlights the unique social function of radio, especially in sports, where it reaches rural corners where television and the internet still lack coverage, exponentially multiplying event audiences in real-time.
Andrade also criticizes the shortcomings of contemporary sports journalism, lamenting that younger generations seek to be "commentators" before becoming well-rounded journalists, neglecting genres such as the chronicle and investigative reporting. Furthermore, he pays tribute to Carlos Arturo Rueda as the father of sports radio in the country and mentions that the great future challenge is adapting the medium to an aging population and the modernization of the AM band. With his grandchildren in mind, the narrator hints at his potential retirement after the Russia World Cup, leaving behind a legacy of passion and informative responsibility
