Abstract

The Superior Council of the Universidad Distrital has approved the creation of the PhD in Artistic Studies, a pioneering program in Colombia focused on research-creation. This doctorate seeks to integrate the sensitive knowledge of the arts with social sciences and the expertise of non-academic communities, promoting an inter- and transdisciplinary approach to addressing social issues from an aesthetic and critical perspective. The program, led by the ASAP Faculty of Arts, plans to launch its first cohort in 2019 after obtaining the qualified registry from the Ministry of Education. With research lines in cultural studies and corporealities, the doctorate is positioned as a key space for local artists and researchers to elevate their creative practices to the highest academic level, directly impacting the social reality of Bogotá and the country
