Resumen
Engineer Carlos Fajardo, the alumni representative on the Superior University Council (CSU), details the current status of the reform to the institution's Organic Statute. Following the intensive work of an ad hoc commission, which spanned over 34 sessions, the review of the main articles—covering the mission, vision, university governance, and academic and administrative components—has been finalized. The engineer notes that on August 6, 2018, the document will be officially submitted to the CSU plenary, marking the start of a final debate phase throughout August, with the goal of securing final approval in September of the same year.
The interview also addresses the financial viability of the reform, noting that the Planning Advisory Office is currently conducting cost and transition projections to ensure the sustainability of the new statute. Furthermore, Fajardo highlights the approval of an agreement to offer postgraduate scholarships to international students through ICETEX, which strengthens the university’s internationalization and competitiveness model. The representative emphasizes that the Universidad Distrital is positioned as the fifth-best in the country according to academic rankings, projecting itself as a benchmark for the Colombian state university system
