The chosen steel is SAE 1045 in its commercial state, this image metallographic is subjected to different thresholds to determine its properties and after this the statistical study is carried out. On the other hand, the SVM application was used for three metallographic images, as well as that in the previous section SAE 1045 steel was used to describe its behaviour. The metallographic image to work in matlab is taken from the institutional repository of mechanical engineering degree projects of the Francisco José De Caldas District University of the project Microstructural comparison of 1020, 1045 and 8620 steels tempered from intercritical and tempered temperatures. In general, the analysis of metallographic image processing is done through other software such as statistical R or Excel, likewise the application of the SVM (support vector machine) is also done analytically or through software such as Excel, but In the case of matlab, the use of this tool is not very common, due to this, deepening the study of the SVM tool and the processing of metallographic images in matlab will optimize processes in the study of steels. Usually, matlab can work with the SVM tool for data that are linearly separable, and for data that are not linearly separable, it can make use of different types of Kernel, in this project due to the Cartesian arrangement of the ferrite and pelite points. Heat treatments were performed on the specimens, then colored micrographs are obtained to observe the microstructure obtained from which the grain size measurements were made with the help of drawing software. At the same time, random microhardness measurements are made to all the specimens, with these values the design of experiments is completed to establish the microhardness values that will be correlated with the obtained grain sizes. Due to the use of an optical microscope, an electron microscope Sweep and durometers, a synthesis of all the experimental procedure carried out to prepare the samples is shown. A correlation is executed, having as variables the grain size and the volumetric fraction of phase for five samples. In short, the statistical correlation implemented with the established variables allows a very close coincidence of data with a low percentage of error between the microhardness and the microstructure for all the unions. The traditional techniques of attack do not allow a detailed analysis of the microstructural evolution of the mechanisms that govern the solidification also of the present phases. For this reason, color metallography will be analyzed and used in aluminum alloys to reveal the microstructural characteristics that conventional (black and white) attack methods do not reveal. This work seeks to highlight the benefits and differences between traditional metallography (black-white) and color metallography. Therefore, from a used aluminum piston from an AKT XM 200 motorcycle, 5 specimens were extracted, 2 were used to compare the techniques of traditional metallography (black-white) and color metallography. The remaining 3 were treated thermally and analyzed by color metallography.
