Abstract

The image contains news about the presentation of Muhammad's work by the students of Saint Bartholomew, in the capital's theater, despite attempts to prevent it by anti-Volterian fanatics. The performance was well done, but critics, fearful that the play might portray them negatively, attempted to prevent its performance. It is mentioned that there were requests and pressure to stop the execution of the work. The article points out the irony of how those who criticize Voltaire's work for questioning Muhammad's beliefs resemble, in their intolerance and ferocity, the followers of Muhammad who spread his religion through violence. It is suggested that the rage of these critics reflects ignorance and falsehoods, and it is hoped that the public will recognize this as their bigoted attitudes are exposed.
