Resumen
In this research work, the reader will find a descriptive study on the use and implications of Spanish by teachers during the class of English in a private institute in Bogota. In order to achieve that, a set of teachers of the institute were selected as the subjects of study. They voiced their points of view on the use of Spanish in the English class through surveys and interviews and they had some class observations done, in order to define the approval and disaproval moments, the functions and effectiveness of the use of Spanish (mother tongue) during the class of English (Foreign language).

En este trabajo de investigación, el lector encontrará un estudio descriptivo del uso y las implicaciones del español en las clases de inglés por parte de los profesores en un instituto privado en Bogotá. Para ello se tomó como objeto de estudio una serie de profesores de la institución quienes dieron sus puntos de vista sobre el uso del español en clases de inglés a través de encuestas y entrevistas y a quienes se les realizaron observaciones de clase, a fin de definir los momento de aprobación y desaprobación, las funciones y la efectividad del uso del español (lengua materna) en la clase de inglés (lengua extranjera).
