Resumen
Actually, the dumping of chromium by industry of the tanneries are considered as one of the major problems of environmental impact, specifically the contamination of water sources due to the damage this metal causes in different ecosystems and the organisms that live there. Along the lower basin of the river Tunjuelo large concentrations of this metal which is inherently causing alterations to physiological level in the surrounding communities are evident; for conducting this study and reference populations of several fish Betta splendens were taken, which were cultured and subjected to the average concentration of chromium (73.53 PPM), determined by spectrophotometry analysis of water samples from the river. For evaluation of cytotoxicity histological sections of nervous system (brain and spinal), gastrointestinal tract, kidney and liver were performed and compared with cuts of controlling agencies to find any differences through microscopic analysis, determining pathological processes such as gliosis, hyperplasias, glomerulonephritis , and damage the liver parenchyma , thereby manifest the toxicology of this metal.
