The image contains news about the health decree, considering: That diphtheria, smallpox, typhus and many other contagious diseases have been wreaking havoc on the population in an alarming manner; that the contagion of these terrible diseases has spread due to lack of hygienic elements and the strict implementation of all preventive means advised by the central hygiene board; that it is a duty of the police to dictate all measures aimed at protecting and preserving public health, decrees: Diphtheria. Article 1 Immediately after a doctor declares the death of a person sick with diphtheria, the following prescriptions will be observed: The corpse will be wrapped, without changing its clothing, in a large sheet soaked in an alcoholic solution of mercury bichloride, at 5%; It will be placed in a coffin, in which a layer of lime will be placed first, then covering it with another layer of lime, and ensuring that the coffin is perfectly closed.
