Resumen
In this section of the Voces y Regiones program, the hosts discuss and define the word "racism." They first reference the definition from the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE) and also explore its global concept. The program explains how, throughout history, racism intensified with Hitler's doctrine, particularly during the Nazi regime, where antisemitism and racism were promoted in an extreme way. Under Nazi ideology, nationalism became a flag used to justify discrimination not only against Jews but also against other races, ethnic groups, and any form of thought deemed "inferior" or "threatening." This historical context led to the creation of a worldview where certain racial groups were considered superior, while others were systematically oppressed and exterminated.
Throughout history, racism has manifested in various forms, from slavery and colonization to segregation policies and structural discrimination that still persist in many societies. Although racism has been widely condemned and progress has been made in civil rights, it remains a global issue that continues to manifest in prejudices, stereotypes, and social, political, and economic inequalities.
