Resumen
The image contains news about Jorge Price, who has founded the National Academy of Music, overcoming the challenges inherent to this type of company, especially in a context where resources for this are limited. Unlike previous private initiatives, Price's vision is more ambitious and national. Its goal is to create real artists and contribute to musical progress throughout the country. Using a room provided by the Government and distributing funds from the National Treasury, Price has organized teaching into ten sections, covering instruments such as violin, viola, clarinet, trombone, among others. The teachers, including Price, have been selected for artistic merit, and lessons are held at times that do not interfere with daily occupations. A Board of Directors oversees the operation of the academy.
Although there is not enough space to mention all the details, the lack of instruments and economic resources stands out. Price has lent his own instruments, but this situation cannot be sustainable in the long term. A call is made to the Government to provide support to this initiative, which is expected to become a musical Conservatory in the future, leaving an honorable legacy for the country and its founders. News published by the newspaper El Conservador, No. 83, March 16-1882.
