Resumen
Demand planning in an organization plays an important role as a key part of the supply chain, and being transversal to the overall logistics system in an organization. The conventional process consists of forecasting future sales based on statistical data, through existing methods and models guided by actions and behaviors expected over the time. Nevertheless, this proposal aims to frame the forecasting piece in one of the planning methodology phases usually being executed by organizations, with the intention of achieving a broader scope when generating a demand forecast. This Master´s dissertation intends to serve not just the development and evolution of companies, but as well the overall demand planning sector through a proposed methodology that can be applicable to a Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. It is very important to guarantee fluid communication channels throughout the functional processes available in an organization, so that a transparent end to end flow can be ensured. However, it is imperative that the leadership is on top and aligned with the demand planning efforts and processes to support the results achievement stated in the proposed methodology stages. After having completed this research, it was found that it is possible to know the maturity level of a process through methodologies previously established, but for that it is important to break down those processes into stages and phases, so that it will be much easier to clearly and consistently identify the evolution of an operation. Additionally, it was concluded that by ensuring an adequate S&OP model, it will be possible to directly and positively impact the results of a company.
