Resumen
The Laboratory of Molecular Physiology belongs to the Scientific and Technological Research Branch of the Public Health Research Directorate of the National Institute of Health (INS). The research group of this laboratory has the missionary objective to research and guide the management of knowledge and innovation in health and biomedicine in accordance with the priorities and needs of the country, providing scientific evidence for decision making and the eventual development of health policies Public. At present, the group of Molecular Physiology works in two lines of investigation: i. Molecular bases of cell differentiation and malignant transformation and ii. Cellular and molecular mechanisms of cardioprotection. Given the variety of processes and operations carried out inside the Laboratory, it is important to have an updated storage system that accounts for both inventory control and the flow of chemical reagents and materials. In particular, the storage of chemical reagents at room temperature must comply with a number of national and international standards associated with occupational safety and health. Precisely from the identification of hazards associated with the physical and chemical properties of the reagents, it is possible to formulate strategies that seek the well-being of laboratory workers and researchers. Factors such as availability of storage space, container dimensions and material, and specifications suggested by the parent company should be considered when implementing a reagent storage system. Regarding the storage of laboratory materials, it is necessary, among other things, the adequacy of a space with optimal conditions that guarantee the maintenance of quality specifications and easy access to the material. In order to facilitate the work operations carried out inside the laboratory and to ensure the safety and health of researchers and caregivers; It was proposed to update the storage system of chemical reagents at room temperature and materials of the Laboratory of Molecular Physiology. For this purpose, the inventory systematization was carried out, the classification system for chemical reagents and materials was verified and updated and the redistribution of the reagents was carried out in the space designated according to the classification system. As a result of this internship project, it was mainly achieved: i. A reduction in the times of search and identification of stocks; Ii. The conditions of storage of reagents and their corresponding safety data sheets were optimized which together facilitate the handling of the chemical reagents and, finally, iii. The information of the storage system that facilitates the decision making on the manipulation, use and supply of the reagents and materials inside the Laboratory was consolidated.
