Resumen
This project resorted to memory as a research engine, and was based on four fundamental pillars: Body, Illness, Childhood and Mind. The story begins with the conception of the body in our western societies. Addressing the history of the creation of the clinical institution, and its hegemonic development. It continues with a brief account of childhood and the roles imposed on us at this stage of life, in my case the role of the sick. The concept of mind is constantly present. In this research I expose my own experiences, I exhibit my intimacy, I tell how my body was invaded by western medicine, resulting in a change in self-perception; which led me to start a "cathartic-healing" process. The visual proposal is divided into two parts. In the first one, I made a curation of my works made in the last 4 years. The diversity of techniques ranges from digital, painting and drawing. All framed in the context of my own body, physical intervention and role-identity. In the second part, I propose a video-performance, which arises from the need to confront my body to the public eye, and question my representation as a sick person, using hospital elements such as sanitary adhesive strips (cures), the oxygen mask, the surgical gown; all this positioned in a fictitious territory aided by digital technology.
