Resumen
The susceptibility of risk by geomagnetic storms is a topic of international interest, there is a scientific concern for its study. In the case of Latin America, the advances in research on the subject are not sufficient and since they do not have the budgets that are verified with the type of phenomena that show that the damages caused in the structures of electrical transmission. The studies carried out in the region of contributions to knowledge from the theoretical point of view in some universities and research institutes, but still smaller in the studies that consider the topic of geomagnetic storm and its implications in the management of the transmission system and its Socioeconomic implications.
In this monograph a study is made on the topics of risk by the geomagnetic storm over the Colombian territory, the document shows a descriptive and retrospective methodology of qualitative-quantitative type, which is based on a spatial characterization of the Geomagnetic models, analysis of soil resistivity at national level, atmospheric discharges recorded during the study period and transmission of electrical energy over the territory. Using map algebra is obtained as a result of the zonification of risk susceptibility by geomagnetic storms in the national territory, classified as high, medium and low risk; In order to be able to analyze the zones of greater risk in the national transmission system.
