Resumen
In this edition of the Voices and Regions program, Father Elorza is interviewed as he shares his missionary experience in Yarumal and other regions of the country. During the conversation, he talks about the first missionaries in Inírida and highlights the significance of La Reina, the first boat that carried out journeys before the creation of the department of Guainía. He also recalls his first mass in the Amazon rainforest, a meaningful moment in his evangelizing mission.
The program honors the life and work of Father Manuel Elorza, remembered as a devoted missionary, faithful to his vocation, and deeply committed to indigenous communities. His mission, inspired by the teachings of the apostle Peter, was characterized by generosity, selfless service, and a close bond with the people of Vaupés and Guainía, who always saw him as a friend and spiritual guide.
For over sixty years, he traveled through roads, rivers, and indigenous settlements, leaving an indelible mark on the region's history. His life, marked by humility and apostolic zeal, was a testament to his total dedication to God and the most vulnerable communities. His legacy endures as that of a man with an indigenous soul, whose unwavering love and commitment made him a symbol of the evangelizing mission in the Amazon.
