Resumen
Introduction: Occupational absenteeism according to different definitions has been understood as the absence justified or not by the workers to the tasks inherent to their position, this generating consequences in organizational and individual terms that not only directly affect the absent worker, but also to the company directly disrupting its organizational competitiveness. Objective: Carry out the characterization of absenteeism in the Bluedoors hotel chain 2014-2017. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive and retrospective study was conducted with which the characteristics of absenteeism between the years 2014-2017 were identified, the study variables were grouped into the typology of epidemiological variables of person, place and time. Additionally, an analysis of the current status of the SG-SST of the organization was developed in order to verify the existence of prevention and control measures related to absenteeism. Finally, recommendations are established in technical sheets. Results: It was identified that the absenteeism records are mainly related to the suffering of general diseases (54%) of chronic nature (34%) and transmissible (29%) in the administrative area (41%). There were no significant statistical differences by sex or number of people per hotel. The SG-SST is in an initial stage of design, which is reflected in the absence of prevention and control measures. Conclusion: The results of the characterization of the absenteeism presented in the hotel chain and the low participation of its SG-SST, allowed to establish a series of recommendations that contemplate from the design of a methodology of analysis of unified absenteeism, to the planning and implementation of epidemiological surveillance systems and self-care programs, with the aim of orienting and giving an opportune approach to the prevention and control measures necessary to attack correctly the causes of such absenteeism.
