Abstract

The public sector, in the fulfillment of its functions, generates, manages, pays for and preserves a large amount of quality information. This information presents economic and social potential while contributing to transparency in public management and the generation of trust on the part of citizens. The opening of data produces benefits for everyone who participates in it: citizens, companies and the administration itself. The challenge is to process enormous amounts of data and convert them into intelligent and timely decisions, which is why it is necessary to take advantage of this important opportunity to create value. This book presents an overview of the different initiatives at the global and regional level and the challenges associated with their construction.
