Resumen
The tanning industry, attracted by the availability of water resources from the Tunjuelo River, has been one of the main causes of negative impacts on environmental and social aspects in the city of Bogotá. Environmentally, it generates an increase in the parameters pH, BOD, COD and SST of Tunjuelo, due to the physical, chemical and biological conditions of the wastewater; offensive odors and sulfur emission, which directly affect human health. Likewise, the tanneries are within the houses, which causes exposure of children and people outside the industrial activity to chemical substances. Citizens' complaints about this problem generated a response from the State in 2014, offering the creation of the San Benito Eco-efficient Industrial Park (PIESB) as a solution. Under the above, the present investigation developed a socio-environmental dynamic model in order to evaluate the sustainability in the transition of the tannery industry to the Eco-efficient Industrial Park of San Benito, seeking to increase the strengths of the tannery sector in the city and mitigate the weaknesses currently faced by the population of San Benito, by allowing the elaboration of strategies and guidelines for the implementation of the PIESB.
