Resumen
The Director of the University Well-being Center, Professor Jimena Parson, highlights the recent adoption of the Protocol for the prevention and handling of cases of gender-based violence and sexual violence at Distrital University, which formalizes and strengthens a support pathway that had already been implemented for approximately one year. This document, which will be reviewed annually, defines the institutional actions and support for any member of the community, including external persons affected within the institution. The professor emphasizes that the protocol is based on key principles such as co-responsibility and, above all, prevention, which will be addressed with an aggressive campaign and events throughout the year to ensure the entire community is aware of the procedure and the rights it guarantees.
The current support pathway already includes the immediate reception of the complaint at the Well-being Center, victim support without re-victimization, legal assistance and information about their rights, and the provision of priority care in health services (psychology, medicine, social work, etc.). The university, through departments such as its radio station, is committed to intense dissemination work. The implementation of this protocol is considered excellent news that strengthens the management of the Well-being Center and provides an essential regulatory framework to guarantee a safe environment and the strengthening of human rights within the institution
