Abstract

The purpose of the present document is to analyze the effects of mining in the public health of the population that compose the watershed of the Alto Suarez River, delimited by the DRMI Environmental Management Plan of the Fúquene, Cucunubá and Palacio Lagoon System, in the departments of Boyacá and Cundinamarca, from where information from different entities in charge of surveillance in public health is compared, as well as from those entities referring to the mining and monitoring activity and control of air quality in the country. The foregoing is based on the literature review and its subsequent analysis and graphic comparison on various studies and analyzes carried out at national level as the ASIS (Health Situation Analysis) and internationally as the Executive Summary Report of Physicians for Social Responsibility by Alan H. Lockwood. These studies will allow us to focus on the analysis of death rates due to circulatory, respiratory and neurological system disorders originated by the particulate material generated by mining activity and other sources.
