Resumen
The provision of public services constitutes a fundamental necessity for human beings, playing a pivotal role in daily life and societal well-being. URBASER is an organization dedicated to providing environmental services, specifically in the areas of sanitation, solid waste, and water. The organization has a presence in over 30 countries, serving approximately 50 million people worldwide. Currently, the company operates nationally, divided into five regions, providing services to 2.4 million Colombians in the departments of Atlántico, Boyacá, Cauca, Córdoba, Cundinamarca Quindío, and Valle del Cauca, operating 4 sanitary landfills. In the department of Cundinamarca, the municipalities of Soacha and Facatativá make up the organization's Central Region. URBASER Soacha S.A E.S. P, as a provider of public sanitation services, has among its main lines of action the fulfillment of environmental and sustainable development objectives. This entails the need to implement solutions to address any operational issues that may have negative impacts on the environment. Within the framework of these environmental management initiatives, a clear opportunity for improvement was identified in the treatment system for wastewater from vehicle washing. Optimizing this system is essential to prevent pollution and comply with applicable regulations. This is where Sanitary Engineering, with its focus, finds absolute relevance for the conceptualization and development of sustainable alternatives. Its specific principles and competencies allow for an ideal approach to addressing this issue. This work seeks, based on the knowledge inherent to Sanitary Engineering, to support the HSEQ area of URBASER Soacha in a project focused on both regulatory compliance and the continuous improvement of its processes. Thus, the environmental and sustainable development objectives defined by the organization are aligned with the analytical, design, and implementation capabilities that a Sanitary Engineer can provide.
