Resumen
The growing concern for solid waste management is a central challenge in contemporary society, driven by population growth, consumerism and the projection of environmental pollution. The massive generation of solid waste, mostly deposited in unused landfills, entails environmental and public health risks due to the accumulation of organic materials, the production of leachates and greenhouse gases (GHG). In this context, the evaluation of environmental and public health risks becomes essential, especially in densely populated urban areas such as the Riveras del Oeste neighborhood in Bogotá D.C. In this neighborhood, the inadequate disposal of solid waste containers (mainly intended to regulate the separation of garbage so that professional recyclers can take advantage of said waste, in order to keep the streets cleaner) has further exacerbated the problem. , causing negative impacts on the local environment and the health of its inhabitants. Given this scenario, it is imperative to comprehensively address solid waste management, implementing strategies and actions that promote the reduction in waste generation and promote the correct separation of waste at the source, so that in this way adequate collection and treatment systems are established by public service providers in the collection of solid waste generated in the town of Kennedy, through a holistic and collaborative approach, involving the government, communities, public service providers and citizens, to effectively face this challenge and work towards a more sustainable and sustainable future and healthy for everyone.
