Resumen
Claudia Helena Castillo Guio's degree project "CALZON" explores underpants as a symbol of intimacy and feminine humor. The author justifies her interest in discussing underpants beyond their dimension as an object, seeing them as a reflection on the traditions and cultures surrounding women's intimate clothing. The analysis seeks to unravel aesthetic and symbolic aspects of underpants, considering them not only an element of seduction, but also a reflection of feminine identity. It proposes a new perspective on underwear, highlighting its cultural impact and its ability to influence the perception of femininity. The project includes a protagonist named Helena, who represents the female gender in the stage of puberty, discovering herself in the face of modesty and establishing a dialogue about the relationship between her body and her imagination.
The project's report addresses modesty, the need to cover up, and the simultaneity of the visible and invisible. Underpants become a sign to designate the fabric that covers the genitals and a symbol of modesty that hides and reveals the shyness of the body. Personal meanings and the creation of a sign of what one wants to encompass and understand are explored. The work also uses photography and video to explore modesty and femininity, as well as reflections on the female body, the color white, and geometric shapes such as the rectangle. The author, through Helena, examines the connection between underpants, the body, and the imagination, exploring eroticism and feminine identity.
