Resumen
This undergraduate thesis, in monograph format, is the result of a year-and-a-half-long process undertaken by two student teachers in the Early Childhood Education program at the Francisco José de Caldas District University in Bogotá. This work explores chess beyond the competitive game, highlighting its potential as a pedagogical tool for transforming perceptions and thus reinterpreting what has been constructed around the sixty-four-square board and thirty-two pieces. The possibilities for pedagogical action arose from the creation of a didactic sequence that integrates art, emotions, the body, multi-expressiveness, and care practices, approaching the game from a political and participatory perspective where the recognition of others and the appreciation of difference take place. This research demonstrates how chess promotes decision-making, conflict resolution, creativity, teamwork, and the recognition and appreciation of diversity in early childhood, all of which are fundamental aspects of holistic development at this stage
