Resumen
At a domestic, institutional and commercial level there is a great consumption of vegetable oil for cooking. Oil and milk are the protagonists in the colombian family basket, according to a study of consumer trends developed by Nielsen in 2016, in which the way of buying food is analyzed. The oil registered a participation in the preferences of 57% being the product of the family basket most bought by the colombians. In the country more than 172 million liters of cooking oil are sold to households each year and about 35% becomes waste at the end of its useful life and, when it is discarded incorrectly, puts the life of the planet in imminent danger whole by joining hundreds of ways to pollute in this case the water resources, advancing this daily to the indifference of many and the concern of few. And is that in most cases in terms of care of the environment is ignored and ignored traditional examples without reflecting on the impact of these actions, this is how many people throw away the used cooking oil, pouring it directly into the drain because it is as it has been traditionally done in your family, but if those people knew that a single liter of that oil has the scope to contaminate 1,000 liters of water that does not even cover half the water consumption of an adult in your home during a year, they would consider taking a more responsible action in the face of this environmental disaster and contribute to reusing this waste so abundant in society, since there are companies where, after appropriate treatments of this used cooking oil, raw materials are obtained for the production of biodiesel, biogas, painting, among others.
