Abstract

The enormous growth of the population in the city of Bogotá, generates a significant increase in the informal housing construction. Added to this the lack of trained staff to guide those constructions facilitates the execution of poor construction practices and the generation of various pathologies in these constructions. Among these pathologies is exposed reinforcing steel in concrete structural elements, such as: footings, columns, beams and slabs; because of this seismic housing deficit, creating a risk to the physical integrity of the people living in them increases. Likewise, the presence of this condition, aesthetic problems are evident in housing, therefore somewhat comfortable environment for people living in them, is created in addition, the presence of exposed steel is the input mechanism other agents pathogens, leading to possible corrosion of steel, internal concrete carbonation, among others. Moreover, the absence of manual or technical instructions for repairs to buildings accessible to the academic community and to the workers of different localities of the city, where different pathologies and possible solutions are exposed are identified, given quantity and quality of the materials suitable for such activity.
