Resumen
I question aspects such as: interior and exterior, temporal and spatial, intimate and public, isolation and confinement, curiosity, play and innocence in the face of danger. Based on these concepts, I establish a relationship with the temporal and spatial aspects of an image represented on a two-dimensional support, making an exploration of the possibilities, limits and sense of support in the work. The drawing in its realization is a process that speaks to us of intimacy, isolation, emptiness, it is an experience of us with the support. The drawing is something intimate and personal that frees us from that confinement to which we are accustomed, opens our thinking to new realities. I am interested in chiaroscuro, the contrast between white and black, the texture of graphite that leaves its mark on the surface as a unique brand. I use drawing to try to create images that refer to isolation, confinement, the contemporary crisis, we are confined, limited, we live in tiny spaces, cramped and alone. Loneliness is a refuge, but also a marginalization, we want to respect our space, but we are increasingly limited by the walls that we build to protect our privacy. The drawing is marked by strong contrasts of light, the passage from white to black, not mediated by color. I am interested in creating nostalgic, empty images, and at the same time, contrasts with the spaces inhabited by memories. In my drawings, many young people appear in everyday situations that through the game seek an exit from the environment that isolates and marginalizes them, it refers to the enclosure of the frame, of the walls, it is a game that is created between the image and the support. These drawings are that, boxes that trap, isolate and separate these spaces with the real one. It shows the superficiality of modern society, its banality and its indifference to the problems of young people. A society that turns its back on the most vulnerable groups. From this game I highlight the importance of the environment of the characters. In effect, it is an eagerness to register urban life in these aspects of marginality. Hence, the exposed scenes, empty spaces, enclosed and contained between walls, are only instruments of the reality in which we live. Closed spaces, in most cases cold, artificially lit, could be from any house, from any room or place. A strange space in which dreams and intimacy fit, while trying to inhabit through drawing to establish the game between look and perception.
