Resumen
This document analyzes the social, economic, and environmental impacts of B Corporations (B Corps) in Colombia. These organizations, certified by B Lab, seek to balance profitability with social and environmental purpose, contributing to sustainable development. The analysis is based on the concept of sustainable development, incorporating elements such as equity, environmental sustainability, and intergenerational justice. B Corps stand out for their focus on triple impact: social, economic, and environmental benefits. Their certification reflects a commitment to responsible practices, transparency, and continuous improvement. The study identifies 94 certified B Corps in Colombia as of 2023, mainly located in Bogotá and Medellín, operating in sectors such as food production, environmental consulting, and manufacturing. The document analyzes their demographic characteristics, industry type, and geographical distribution. It highlights case studies like Alquería, recognized for positive impacts in areas such as labor inclusion, food security, clean energy, gender equity, and employee well-being. The company also aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From an economic perspective, the study examines the financial risks and viability of these companies, demonstrating that it is possible to remain profitable while being socially and environmentally responsible. In conclusion, B Corps represent an emerging business model focused on shared value and social transformation, with strong potential to strengthen Colombia’s economy in an equitable and sustainable way.
