Resumen
This article explores didactic approaches to environmental education, utilized in interdisciplinary artistic workshops, designed to enhance understanding of the main threats to the survival of the wetlands of Bogotá. In particular, risks affecting Bogota’s foremost wetlands of Tibabuyes or Juan Amarillo.
This work draws upon aspects of traditional Colombian Andean music, in particular, musical pieces that relate to the environment and habitat of the wetlands. These formal elements were then synthesized, to form the inspiration for an original Bambuco composition by the author rhythm entitled: ´El Lamento Del Tibabuyes’, or ‘The Lament of the Tibabuyes’. This original composition and accompanying materials serve as a ‘transversal axis’, to structure and guide future inter-disciplinary artistic workshop facilitators, enhance awareness of biodiversity, and ultimately generate possible solutions for the preservation of wetlands in Bogotá. Thus, this thesis represents a unique audiovisual record of pedagogical interest that promotes environmental awareness, and serves as a unique contribution to the field of pedagogical studies.
