Resumen
In this section of Voces y Regiones, the governor of the Zenú Indigenous community speaks about the situation in Alto San Jorge, located in the department of Córdoba. He highlights the issue of land ownership and the urgent need for the government to move forward with the legalization and formal recognition of ancestral territories as Indigenous reserves.
The leader recounts how the community has suffered systematic violence at the hands of illegal armed groups, particularly paramilitary forces, which has led to massacres, forced displacement, and a lasting atmosphere of fear and instability.
He also refers to the ongoing peace dialogues taking place in Havana, expressing the hope that these processes will bring an end to the conflict and secure real conditions of peace and justice for Indigenous communities.
Finally, the governor emphasizes the vital role of internal organization and mutual support within the Zenú community, which has enabled them to overcome the harshest consequences of violence, rebuild their social structures, and preserve their cultural identity and self-governance.
