Resumen
The design of sewerage systems involves making numerous mathematical calculations; that is how the Calculator Sewers tool "CALALC" was developed by the Engineer Jorge Alberto Valero Fandiño in 2011, it was thought as an instrument that would not only facilitate such calculations but also allow the adequate training of professionals in such area. In order to contribute to the development of the sanitary and storm water sewers system in Colombia, this document aims at making an assessment of the CALALC program compared to other different calculation methods applied in the country. Thus to endorse its operation and accuracy based on the results offered. We took a project implemented by the Water and Sewerage Company of Bogotá "EAAB", then we designed it using CALALC and the software Storm Water Management Model "SWMM" version 5.1 developed by EPA. Next, the obtained results were compared, which allowed to evidence the accuracy of the hydraulic modeling that the CALALC program has, except for the flow calculation because in Bogota different considerations other than those described are applied in the RAS 2000 which CALALC runs in its functioning. Finally, the comparison of RAS 2000 title D is presented against the 2015 version (Test version) as fundamental criteria for the design of sewage networks, where differences, similarities and new considerations are shown; this being of great importance in updating regulations for the area. Keywords: CALALC, EPA SWMM, program, sewer system design, steady flow.
