Resumen
Casallas's artistic project "Marfuz" documents a four-year creative process centered on the character Marfuz, who originates from a personal conflict and evolves as a means for Casallas's plastic exploration. The project is structured in stages that detail the physical representation, emotional panorama, and symbolic significance of Marfuz, encompassing themes such as revenge, falsehood, fear, and self-reflection. Professor William Alfonso López's prologue emphasizes that the work reflects a continuous journey, exposing the development and challenges faced by Casallas, rather than a finished work. The text seeks to document the character's evolution, exploring broad artistic challenges and personal connections with the theme.
The project's memoir explores the creative process, highlighting important elements, references, and encounters to clarify doubts and missteps. Reflections are reconstructed through elements such as the point, the line, the color, the plane, the letter, and Marfuz himself, adding annexes throughout the stages. The overall objective in each stage is the construction of a character in the plastic realm, exploring his interiority and animality, blending theory with practice through intuition and reason. The relationship between Marfuz and the artist is condensed, where the character's mask serves as mutual protection, generating the concern of investigating what lies behind it and how the viewer becomes involved in the work.
