Resumen
In engineering, the accurate estimation of peak flows and the identification of extreme hydrological events are vital for infrastructure design. However, in countries like Colombia, the scarcity of hydrological information across much of the territory constitutes a significant challenge in obtaining such data. To address this problem, hydrology proposes the implementation of indirect methodologies that estimate flows based on the physical characteristics of watersheds. Among these, the Curve Number (CN) method of the SCS (Soil Conservation Service) stands out.
In this research, the SCS methodology was rigorously applied and adapted, utilizing the collection and analysis of geospatial information on soils, vegetation cover, and terrain slopes. The result of this process is the generation of three thematic Curve Number (CN) maps for three antecedent wetness conditions at the national scale for Colombia.
