NESTs and NNESTs' role through students and teachers' perspectives from different educational environments in Bogota

Resumen
The present case study reviewed the current role that Native English Speaker Teachers (NESTs) and Non- native English Speaker Teachers (NNESTs) have in different EFL educational atmospheres in the capital city of Colombia. This study addressed the perspectives that 7 students from a university, 7 from a language institute and 5 English language teachers from universities and language institutes have around the ‘ideal’ English teacher who could guide them in their English learning process without highlighting neither NNESTs’ role nor NESTs’ one.

El presente estudio de caso revisó el rol actual que tienen los Profesores Hablantes de Inglés Nativo (NESTs) y los Profesores Hablantes de Inglés No Nativos (NNESTs) en diferentes atmósferas educativas de EFL en la ciudad capital de Colombia. Este estudio abordó las perspectivas que 7 estudiantes de una universidad, 7 de un instituto de idiomas y 5 profesores de inglés de universidades e institutos de idiomas tienen alrededor del profesor de inglés ideal que podría guiarlos en su proceso de aprendizaje en inglés sin destacar ni el papel de NNESTs ni el de NESTs.
